In 1999, a small group of people had a great idea: to bring pet shops online and make life easier for pet lovers. Today zooplus SE is Europe’s leading online retailer of pet supplies. With over 8 million active customers in more than 30 European countries and 1,8 billion Euro revenue in 2020, zooplus is comfortably the market leader in the online segment. zooplus currently employs more than 1000 employees in 10 international locations, working in the areas of Sales & Marketing, Category Management, Purchasing, IT, Logistics, Finance and HR.

At zooplus, we believe e-commerce to be the sales model of today and for the future. E-commerce has become one of the fastest developing areas of business. In the Netherlands we are online with our shop since 2007. Beside our office in the city center we are also running a huge warehouse which is packing up to 20.000 parcels a day. The team rapidly expanded up to more than 20 employees and we are still hiring. zooplus NL is the market leader in online pet supplies for the Netherlands. Because of our flat hierarchy and dynamic business, we need to work fast, flexibly and effectively. In the Dutch office, beside the Managing Director, we work in Shop Management, Customer Care, Online Marketing, Category Management, Pricing, Transportation and Office Management/HR.

Before zooplus, I worked in the pet industry area of marketing and product development and always had the wish to move into purchasing and e-commerce. The zooplus office was close to my hometown and I got hired for a different job than the one I applied for. Great that zooplus looked further than just my application and saw potential based on my full resume. After three years I still see plenty of challenges to help the company achieve further goals and develop the business. I would recommend zooplus as an employer, because of the interesting combination of channel and market (e-commerce of pet products) but also the atmosphere within the company and between colleagues both local and international. From personal experience I can say that zooplus is even a great company to work when you don’t have a pet.

My whole life I have been a creative person with a passion for pets. At the time when I applied at zooplus, I was the proud owner of a toller retriever Neo. For me, it was the perfect job where I could combine my love for animals with my job as a graphic designer. Since I started I could put all my inspiration and experience as a pet owner in my work. I really like that I have the independence to create cool designs that speak to pet owners, as well as working in an international team where everyone has their own style. When I have an off day, I just look at neo and that’s all the motivation I need for some new ideas.

I started working at zooplus 2 years ago in the role of Technical Product Owner for the new IT team “Workplace Services” to design, configure and implement a new Windows workplace for all zooplus employees. Now, I am the Team Lead for the full Workplace Services team and am responsible for everything from Windows, macOS and Linux to our remote working solutions. Zooplus gives me the opportunity to grow and develop myself and at the same time be involved in interesting projects and I get the chance to work with interesting colleagues both in my local office in Tilburg as well as in offices throughout Europe. Every day in zooplus is a new adventure, and I look forward to learn how my journey will continue into the future!
